Comics for 9/13/06

Happy Birthday Jonathan! It’s another slow week for comics, but here’s what I’ll be reading while you age:

  • 52 #19
  • Phonogram #2
  • Wolverine Origins #6

Continue reading for my impressions:

52 #19

Issue #19 has been released on time. See my other thoughts on 52 for clarification.

Phonogram #2

I don’t really understand most of the musical references, but you don’t have to. Gillen’s story is fascinating even if the musical world he’s living in is completely alien to you. His dialog is snappy, and the art is strong. Good stuff.

Wolverine Origins #6

Steve Dillon is a horrible artist and horrible in a way particularly unsuited to a Wolverine comic. Some scribbly, loose, ugly-kind-of-horrible would be worlds better than Dillon’s goofy-stiff-creepy-looking-long-faced characters. I can’t believe I made it through Preacher with his art. I’m dropping this title as soon as this story arc ends if someone else doesn’t take over.
